Professional and Personal Profile:
J. Joseph (Joe) Muller has degrees in electrical
engineering from the University of Louisville, and
political science from the University of Missouri-St.
Louis, in addition to his law degree from Washington
University. He is a member of both the Missouri Bar and
the Patent Bar.
Joe has extensive experience not only in all areas of
Intellectual Property, but also in management. He
successfully managed Carter Automotive Company, a
manufacturer of automotive products whose sales exceeded
$125M annually, as Senior Vice President and General
Manager of the company. He also held other senior
management positions (Director of Purchasing, Product
Manager, Patent Counsel) with Carter. Later, as General
Counsel to ACF Industries, Inc., he was involved with
corporate acquisitions, corporate financing, employee
and labor relations, retirement, and environmental
matters, in addition to intellectual property protection
and a wide range of litigation.
Joe has counseled a number of start-up companies, not
only with respect to the development and protection of
their intellectual property, but also with respect to
other aspects of their business.
Joe has served as a Director of agencies within the City
of St. Louis, including the Economic Development Board
and the Pollution Control Board. He has written monthly
articles for business publications in Missouri and
Illinois, as well as (1976 BAMSL article).
Joe is also an inventor with five U.S. patents in the
automotive, electric motor, and sports equipment fields. |
