Professional Profile:
William B. Cunningham has practiced intellectual
property law for over 35 years. As an engineer, he
worked for NASA Manned Spacecraft Center at Cape
Canaveral on the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo projects,
and he was a structural test engineer at McDonnell
Douglas on the Gemini project and in advanced design.
Mr. Cunningham has extensive patent prosecution
experience in a wide variety of mechanical and electro
mechanical applications. For the past 20 years, he
focused on patent, trade secret and trademark litigation
and licensing. Mr. Cunningham has been the responsible
attorney in over 40 different infringement suits,
representing patent, trade secret, and trademark owners
and accused infringers. He has extensive experience in
counseling clients on how to avoid infringing patents.
Mr. Cunningham has been admitted to practice before
numerous U.S. District Courts, the 7th and 8th Circuits
Courts of Appeal, and the Court of Appeals For the
Federal Circuit. In 2004, Mr. Cunningham was the lead
attorney representing a small startup company in a
patent infringement case involving a patent for printing
books on demand, which resulted in a $15,000,000 jury
verdict for his client. Mr. Cunningham is listed in the
Best Lawyers in America.
